Public Safety
Roger knows that our community cares about public safety. That is why he joined the Public Safety Committee. One of the very first issues he had to deal with was a proposal that would have prevented residents from accessing the Bethesda Police Station late at night. Roger led the fight against that proposal, and Roger won. Our police station remains open 24/7, just the way it should.
Roger has also been a champion of our volunteer firefighters. No community in the county has more people that are intensely committed to this cause, and Roger has not let them down. Today our citizens can call 911 and not worry about paying a fee. Roger has fought to keep it that way. One District 1 resident, Jared Blum, had this to say:
"As a member of the Public Safety Committee, Councilmember Berliner appreciates how important public safety is to our neighborhoods. He fought to keep the Bethesda Police Station open 24/7, and he is a strong advocate for our volunteer fire fighters that provide critical, cost-effective service to our community."
